Matthew Silvis is the The Hershey Company Professor and Chair in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Penn State College of Medicine. He holds dual roles in academic leadership and clinical expertise. His professional qualifications include a BS in Biology from Allegheny College (1994–1998), an MD from Penn State College of Medicine (1998–2002), a Family Medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (2002–2005), and a Sports Medicine fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (2006–2007).
Dr. Silvis specializes in sports medicine, focusing on athlete health, concussion management, and orthopaedic care. He has contributed to research on topics such as wildfire smoke exposure in sports events, ankle synovitis, geriatric mobility interventions, and corticosteroid treatments for osteoarthritis.
