Matthew Rightmire

Matthew Rightmire serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Theatre & Dance department at Gustavus Adolphus College, teaching since 2022 across multiple academic terms through 2025.

His research and teaching expertise centers on practical theatre production with emphasis on:

• Technical Theatre implementation
• Scenic and props design
• Stage construction methodologies
• Digital drafting for performance spaces

His course portfolio demonstrates consistent focus on hands-on production skills including Scene/Props Practicum across all levels, Light & Sound Design, Computer Drafting, Scenic Painting, and Stage Management. He actively supervises undergraduate research through Int/Adv Creative Research courses and Theatre Honors Projects.

Professor Rightmire contributes significantly to departmental production teams, integrating technical instruction with live performance execution across Gustavus Adolphus College's theatre seasons.
