Matthew Potter

Matthew Potter is a Professor in Art and Design History at Northumbria University’s School of Design Arts and Creative Industries. He specializes in the history of visual culture (1800–1950), focusing on art education, art collecting, and international cultural exchanges within the British World. His work challenges assumptions about colonial art dynamics, particularly how Australian national galleries negotiated cultural identity through UK art acquisitions.
