Matthew Parrott is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and a Fellow and Tutor in Philosophy at St Hilda’s College. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from the University of Michigan. Previously, he held a Birmingham Fellowship at the University of Birmingham and a Lectureship at King’s College London, as well as an Andrew Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Oxford.

Dr. Parrott’s research focuses on the philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and psychiatry. He explores topics such as self-consciousness, perceptual knowledge, and the nature of scientific explanations. His current projects include examining knowledge of mentality and the nature of delusional thinking.
Dr. Parrott has received several distinguished awards, including the Birmingham Fellowship at the University of Birmingham and the Andrew Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Oxford.
In addition to his research, Dr. Parrott teaches through tutorials in areas such as Logic, General Philosophy, Knowledge and Reality, and Philosophy of Mental Health. He has also held academic appointments at King’s College London and the University of Birmingham.
