Dr. Matthew Mehan serves as Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Government at Hillsdale College's Van Andel Graduate School of Government in Washington, D.C. With twenty-five years of experience in teaching and humanities curriculum design, he is integral to the institution's academic mission on Capitol Hill.
His educational background includes:
- B.A. in Politics (valedictorian) from the University of Dallas
- M.A. in English from the University of Dallas
- Ph.D. in Literature (honors) from the University of Dallas, focusing on the education of leading citizens
Dr. Mehan's research spans Political Science and Literature with emphasis on civic education through humanities. His scholarly contributions appear in Moreana and The Wall Street Journal, while his children's poetry book 'Mr. Mehan’s Mildly Amusing Mythical Mammals' has been acclaimed as 'a new classic'.
He has directed the Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program for over a decade, consulting for national leaders and heads of state. Additionally, he serves on the board of advisors for Hillsdale’s K-12 education initiative, shaping curriculum development from primary through graduate levels.
