Matthew McCabe

Matthew McCabe is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Interim Director of Justice, Law, and Society at Washington College. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from University of Maryland, College Park; M.A. from California State University, Long Beach; and B.A. from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Research Focus: Specializes in virtue ethics of care, particularly its application to medical ethics and physician-patient relationships. Current work extends to punitive justice and political profession ethics.

Publication Focus: Research consistently applies virtue ethics frameworks to professional contexts, with recent emphasis on ethical dimensions of clinical practice, truth-telling dilemmas, and rights theory.
