Matthew Lockard

Matthew Lockard is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Department of Philosophy, Southern Methodist University (SMU). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and specializes in epistemology, philosophy of mind, and related disciplines.

His research explores the nature of epistemic normativity, the role of inference in belief justification, and the individuation of perceptual states. He also investigates ethics, philosophy of language, and the history of modern and early analytic philosophy. Recent publications analyze the problem of easy knowledge and theoretical frameworks for mental state attribution.
