About
Matthew Karl Borg is a Professor of Molecular Thermofluids at the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh. He holds a BEng (2006) from the University of Malta and a PhD (2010) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. His research focuses on non-equilibrium fluid flows at micro/nano scales, including applications in water filtration, semiconductor manufacturing, and surface nanobubble technologies. He develops computational tools like dsmcFoam and mdFoam within OpenFOAM, leveraging UK supercomputing resources. Borg has held visiting roles at the University of Malta (2012–2015) and postdoctoral positions at Strathclyde (2010–2015). His work bridges academia and industry, attracting EPSRC grants and collaborations with international institutions. Key projects include multiscale simulation of rarefied gas flows and nanobubble dynamics.
