Matthew J Debney

Matthew J Debney is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at the Sheffield Hallam University, within the School of Sport and Physical Activity, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. He serves as the Level 4 Lead for the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science program and is a member of the School's Recruitment, Marketing, and Communications team. His academic roles include module leadership in courses such as Applied Sport and Exercise Science and Professional Practice in Sport and Exercise Science.

Dr. Debney holds a BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, and a PgCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Brighton and Sheffield Hallam University. His research focuses on thermal physiology in tennis, exploring strategies to mitigate the effects of hot conditions on athletes and the repeatability of tennis-specific treadmill protocols in such environments. He is a doctoral candidate and maintains active involvement in the Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre and Health Research Institute.
