Matthew Hopson-Walker

Matthew Hopson-Walker is an Assistant Professor in Printmaking at Fresno State University's College of Arts and Humanities, specializing in printmaking, drawing, and foundational art practices. His work explores dystopian science fiction themes and comic book influences, reflecting a lifelong engagement with visual storytelling.

• Education: MFA (2003) & MA (2002) in Printmaking from University of Iowa; BFA (1998) from Kansas City Art Institute

With expertise in screen printing, lithography, intaglio, and multi-technique prints, he has conducted workshops at Frogman’s Print and Paper Summer Workshop and served as visiting artist/lecturer at 16+ universities across the U.S. His career spans gallery ownership, print technician roles, and participation in over 220 exhibitions.

Matthew’s work is permanently collected by institutions including Museum of Modern Art (Franklin Furnace Artist Book Collection), University of Iowa Museum of Art, and Tama Art University Museum in Tokyo. He has twice won "Best of Show" awards at Merced Multicultural Art Center.
