Matthew Hammer, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Pediatric Radiology Division. He serves as Director of the Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program and leads the Pediatric Radiology Musculoskeletal Group. Additionally, he is Medical Director of the Children's Imaging Center - Plano under Children's Health. Dr. Hammer holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona and an M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School, where he completed radiology residency and advanced training in pediatric and musculoskeletal radiology.
His clinical and research interests focus on pediatric musculoskeletal imaging, MRI enterography, MR urography, and perineal imaging in Crohn disease. He has contributed to seminal publications on topics such as musculoskeletal infections, pediatric trauma imaging, and diagnostic imaging protocols. Dr. Hammer is actively involved in professional organizations including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR), and serves on multiple institutional committees related to clinical competency and quality assurance.
