Matthew Gwathmey is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of New Brunswick, teaching English, writing, and creative writing. He also instructs at STU and UNB's Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre.
His research applies ecocritical approaches to Indigenous literature and Atlantic Canadian poetry. As a published poet, he released collections including Our Latest in Folktales and Tumbling for Amateurs, supported by Arts New Brunswick and Canada Council grants.
Gwathmey received SSHRC scholarships for his graduate studies and aims to develop a course on Canadian graphic novels.
