Matthew Grimes

Matthew Grimes is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Futures at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, serving as Director of the MPhil in Innovation, Strategy and Organisation Programme and Co-Director of the Entrepreneurship Centre.

His educational background includes:

• BBA from College of William and Mary
• MSc from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford
• PhD from Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University

His research examines how individuals and organizations drive positive social change through entrepreneurship, focusing on contextual and individual factors in innovation creation and governance within sustainable development frameworks. Current work explores ESG reputation dynamics during crises and reinterprets mission drift as potential mission lift.

As Deputy Editor of Academy of Management Journal and editorial board member for Academy of Management Review and Journal of Business Venturing, he shapes scholarly discourse in organizational studies. Prior industry experience includes Associate Director for Research roles at CEB (Gartner) across Washington DC, London, and New Delhi.
