Dr. Matthew Ellis holds the Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation Chair in Middle Eastern Studies and International Affairs at Sarah Lawrence College. His research examines territoriality, nationalism, and decolonization in the modern Middle East, with special focus on Egypt and Libya.
His award-winning work combines archival research with geopolitical analysis to understand border formation and identity politics in colonial contexts.
