Matthew Doolan

Dr Matthew Doolan is a Professor at the School of Engineering & Technology, UNSW Canberra. His research focuses on Manufacturing Processes, Innovation and Technology Adoption, and Recycling and Life Cycle Assessment.

His recent work includes:

• Investigating sustainability impacts of vehicle electrification and lightweighting.
• Advancing carbon fibre recycling through fibre architecture preservation.
• Developing dynamic life cycle assessment methodologies for shared mobility systems.
• Optimizing resistance spot welding quality monitoring in automotive manufacturing.

Matthew leads projects under the ARC Training Centre for Lightweight Automotive Structures and collaborates with industry partners such as Ford Australia, Toll Auto Logistics, and the AutoCRC. His publications emphasize circular economy strategies, material efficiency, and environmental impacts of automotive technologies.
