Matthew Darsey

Matthew Darsey serves as Adjunct Professor of Viola at Winthrop University's Conservatory of Music. An active performer and educator, he specializes in contemporary music performance and maintains an extensive performance schedule with regional symphonies including Asheville, Hendersonville, Greenville, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte orchestras.

As founding member of the MAPSensemble (Viola/Piano/Percussion trio), he champions new music through collaborations with Bechtler Ensemble, Out Of Bounds Ensemble, and Charlotte New Music Festival. Beyond classical performance, Darsey performs with the band Sound of Raine, blending diverse musical traditions.
