Matthew Croasmun

Matthew Croasmun is an Associate Research Scholar at the Yale Divinity School, Director of the Life Worth Living Program at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture, and Lecturer of Divinity & Humanities at Yale University. His work bridges faith and intellectual inquiry, particularly in Pauline Epistles and contemporary philosophy of science. He holds a B.A. in Music (Yale College, 2001), M.A.R. in Bible (Yale Divinity School, 2006), and Ph.D. in Religious Studies (Yale, 2014).

His research explores sin’s cosmic dimensions in Romans through emergence theory, leading to the 2015 Manfred Lautenschläger Award. Teaching spans Yale College, Divinity School, and interfaith initiatives. He co-founded the Society of Vineyard Scholars and advises the Yale Humanist Community. His first book, The Emergence of Sin, was published by Oxford University Press in 2017.

Grants and lab collaborations include work with the Yale Center for Faith and Culture, supporting the Life Worth Living Program and “Christ and the Good Life” course. His advocacy extends to interfaith dialogue and church leadership training.
