Matthew Colless is a Distinguished Professor at the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics (RSAA), ANU, where he served as Director from 2013 to 2022. He holds a BSc (Hons I) from Sydney University and a PhD from Cambridge. His research focuses on observational cosmology, galaxy evolution, and large-scale structure surveys. He has led major projects like the Australian Astronomical Observatory and contributed to initiatives such as the Giant Magellan Telescope and European Southern Observatory Council.
