Matthew Cohen is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Arts & Sciences at Merrimack College. His research focuses on cybersecurity, international relations, and comparative politics, with emphases on cyber policy, Middle East dynamics, and Russian foreign policy. Cohen holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northeastern University, an A.L.M. in Government from Harvard University, and a B.A. in Politics and Sociology from Brandeis University.
His research examines state and non-state actor strategies in cyberspace, including policy development for defense and interest promotion. Notable publications include analyses of cyber defense frameworks, Middle East delegitimization campaigns, and Turkish foreign policy. Cohen received the 2016 Northeastern University Outstanding Teaching Award for Graduate Students.
