Matthew Bright is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of Sydney Business School. He serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence, leading the cross-faculty Sydney Genesis start-up program. With extensive experience in start-ups, scale-ups, and corporate sectors (banking, consulting), he previously engaged with the University through roles such as President of the Business Alumni Network (2022), guest lecturer, Dalyell Scholar program mentor, and creator of the Unconventional Careers video series.
His research focuses on new economy drivers: artificial intelligence, decarbonisation, deglobalisation, future of work, industrial automation, advanced manufacturing, and technological convergence.
Teaching involves overseeing Genesis, a 12-week startup accelerator for University-affiliated founders in health, finance, AI, enterprise, and climate domains. He redesigned the program to align with industry needs for company-building excellence.
