Matthew Aylett

Matthew Aylett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, UK. His research focuses on speech synthesis, social robotics, and human-robot interaction, with applications in healthcare and ethical AI.

His recent work includes critical analyses of deepfake technology, design principles for socially assistive robots, and innovative reminiscence therapy systems for dementia patients. He actively publishes in interdisciplinary venues such as PLoS ONE and IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society.
