Matthew Arkin is a Lecturer in Film and Media Arts at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, Chapman University. A multifaceted artist, he combines his decades-long acting career with education, mentoring, and storytelling. His work spans theater, film, and television, with a focus on character development and narrative healing.

His acting career includes Broadway roles in Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys and Dinner with Friends (Drama Desk nomination, Drama League Honoree). On screen, he has appeared in films like Liar, Liar and Death to Smoochy, as well as TV series such as Rescue Me and 100 Centre Street.
Matthew also directs the Acting Intensive Program at South Coast Repertory’s Theatre Conservatory and teaches privately in Los Angeles. His novel In the Country of the Blind highlights his storytelling prowess.
