Matteo Villa is an Associate Professor in Economic Sociology at the Department of Political Science, University of Pisa. His research focuses on socio-economic systems, ecological crisis, and welfare transformations, integrating pragmatist and complex-system analysis. He holds a PhD in Economic Sociology from the University of Brescia and has professional experience as a social worker, project manager, and chair of a social cooperative.
Teaching includes Sociology of Organization, Comparative Welfare Systems, and Ecology of Socio-Economic Systems. Research affiliations include the Oops! Lab, Cirsec, and Remarc research groups. He actively participates in projects addressing ecological transition, social innovation, and eco-social policies.
