Mr. Matt Yount serves as Instructor of Piano and Director of Keyboard Studies in the Music Department at Southeast Missouri State University, where he has been a faculty member since 2005 and was recently honored for 20 years of service. He teaches applied piano, chamber music, and group piano classes while acting as the department's collaborative pianist, coordinating student degree recitals and providing accompaniment for performances and competitions.
Mr. Yount earned degrees in Music and Mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University and completed two years of post-graduate study at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music under Professors Reiko Neriki and Jean-Louis Haguenauer, performing there in 2009.
His professional interests span piano performance, chamber music, and jazz piano, alongside music arranging and composition. He has published arrangements and original works performed on campus and maintains an active presence in regional jazz venues.
As Director of Keyboard Studies, Mr. Yount leads the keyboard program at the River Campus, mentoring students through recitals and competitions while collaborating with faculty and guest artists in performances.
