Mats Alaküla

Mats Alaküla is a Professor in Industrial Electrical Engineering at Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He leads research in electromobility, energy transition, and sustainable transportation systems. His roles include Scientific Advisor at AB Volvo (14 years) and Elonroad AB, as well as Research Leader in the Swedish Electromobility research centre for 12 years.

Education: Began his career in 1986 as a PhD student in control and design of electrical machines and drives. His expertise spans automotive applications, hybrid/electric vehicles, and energy systems.

Research Interests: Focuses on electromobility, energy supply for electric vehicle fleets (road, farming, construction, mining), and conductive charging systems. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Advisory Roles: Active in committees, investigations, and as a lecturer. Participated in events like the Energy Transition retreat (2024) and Almedalen 2023 debates on electromobility.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates with Elonroad AB and Kraftringen AB on projects involving conductive road systems and energy management.
