Dr. Mathilde Letard serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), specializing in AI-driven 4D (3D + time) data analysis for environmental monitoring of critical natural surface dynamics including landslides, coastal erosion, glacial movement, and riverbed morphology changes exacerbated by climate change.
Her research integrates Artificial Intelligence with Geoscience to develop spatiotemporal digital twins of fragile (pre-)alpine environments, focusing on reconciling multi-source 4D datasets with varying coverage and resolution while enhancing multimodal remote sensing capabilities. This work addresses urgent societal and economic risks such as infrastructure damage and health hazards through advanced predictive modeling of climate-impacted surface processes.
As lead researcher for the AI4ENV project, she pioneers methods to transform 4D topographic datasets into operational digital twins for large-scale environmental monitoring, directly supporting geoscientific research and climate adaptation strategies in vulnerable regions.
