Mathieu Koehl

Mathieu Koehl holds multiple roles at INSA Strasbourg, including Lecturer and Director of the Civil Engineering and Topography Department. He also serves as a Researcher in the ICube Laboratory (UMR 7357) and Head of the IT Resource Center. His teaching focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cartography, and topography projects, including modules like STM-TOPO-03 to STM-TOPO-14. Research interests center on 3D modeling of buildings, urban structures, and web-based GIS integration. He leads the PAGE Team (Architectural Photogrammetry and Geomatics) and contributes to the TRIO Team within ICube.

Expertise spans applied computer science, CAD applications in topography, and drone-based photogrammetry. He chairs the French Topography Association (AFT) as Secretary General and participates in international committees like CIPA and ISPRS. At INSA Strasbourg, he oversees technological research projects, final year student projects, and R&D collaborations. He also supports professionals through short continuing education programs and equipment expertise.

Key responsibilities include heading topography specialty programs and advocating for ethical standards in 3D modeling through the International 3D Ethics Charter.
