About
Dr. Mathieu-Benoit Voisin is a Senior Lecturer in Immunology and Principal Investigator at the Centre for Microvascular Research, Queen Mary University of London. He holds positions within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. His expertise spans immunology, inflammation, and vascular biology.
Dr. Voisin earned a Biological Sciences degree (specializing in Immunology) from the University of Bordeaux II (2000) and a PhD from the University of Tours (2003). Postdoctoral research at Imperial College London preceded his move to the William Harvey Research Institute in 2007, where he studied leukocyte migration mechanisms. Since 2017, he has led an independent research group.
His research focuses on neutrophil migration and functions in lymphatic/lymphoid systems, particularly in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. He investigates how neutrophils interact with lymphatic vessels and influence adaptive immunity using intravital microscopy. Key sponsors include the British Heart Foundation, William Harvey Research Foundation, and Versus Arthritis.
He has received prestigious awards, including the Werner Risau New Investigator Award (2010) and Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellowship (2012). Collaborators include Prof. S. Nourshargh (WHRI), Prof. Q. Sattentau (Oxford), and Prof. Ed Rainger (University of Birmingham).
Dr. Voisin mentors PhD student Julia Dielesen and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance understanding of inflammatory mechanisms in chronic diseases.
