Helmholtz Association of German Research CentersAbout
Mathias Jucker is Professor and Group Leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and Head of the Department of Cell Biology of Neurological Diseases at the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH), University of Tübingen. He coordinates Germany's involvement in the international Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN) study, bridging preclinical research with clinical applications for Alzheimer's disease.
His research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain aging and neurodegenerative disorders, with primary emphasis on Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis and cerebral amyloidoses. The department conducts basic preclinical investigations to elucidate disease mechanisms, leveraging longitudinal analysis of genetic mutation carriers and non-carrier siblings through the DIAN study to derive insights applicable to sporadic Alzheimer's disease.
Prof. Jucker's work operates within the collaborative framework of DZNE and HIH at the University of Tübingen, driving translational research in neurodegenerative disease pathology through cellular and molecular approaches.
