Liviu Ciprian Matenco is a Professor of Tectonics and Sedimentary Basins at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, holding this position since 2017. Previously, he served as Associate Professor at Utrecht University (2012–2017) and VU University Amsterdam (2011–2012), with earlier roles including Research Leader at the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Netherlands and Researcher at VU University Amsterdam. He is a member of the Academia Europaea, elected in 2018 into its Earth & Cosmic Sciences section.
