Matej Vakula is a Lecturer in the Art, Culture, and Technology Program at MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning. His work bridges ethics, aesthetics, and emerging technologies, focusing on biotechnologies, artificial intelligence, and computational ethics. He collaborates with institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and CUNY’s Advanced Science Research Center, and is an ABD Ph.D. candidate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Notable achievements include a 2009 Fulbright Fellowship and recognition in Ars Electronica’s Golden Nica finals for his Dark Design project (2023).
Research interests include the ethical implications of nanotechnology, tissue printing, and AI in biology. His art is exhibited globally, blending science and culture.
