Dr. Matahel Ansar is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and serves as Section Chief for Applied Hydraulics at the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) since 2014. He manages hydraulic design, flood risk analysis, and operational support for Florida's water systems.
He holds a Ph.D. (1997) and M.S. (1993) in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a Hydraulics specialization from the University of Iowa.
His research focuses on water resources engineering, hydraulic systems, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, and flood risk mitigation. He integrates laboratory experiments with 1D/2D/3D simulations for infrastructure design and environmental water management.
Dr. Ansar's scientific contributions include:
