Mat Whiteley

Mat Whiteley is a Lecturer in the Department of Art & Film at Cal Poly Humboldt within the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. They hold an MFA in Digital Art from Indiana University (2018) and a BFA with an Art History minor from Oregon State University (2011).

As an interdisciplinary artist, Mat explores storytelling through animation, comics, and multimedia installations. Their research focuses on gender identity, sexuality, and war repercussions in queer horror/sci-fi narratives. Notable projects include the projection-mapped thesis installation Now for the Future (2018) and collaborative exhibitions like Gamma Burst (2016).

Mat also engages with creative practices beyond academia through projects like the fictional Heirloom Academy and OPEN SOURCE comic series.
