Massimo Natale

Massimo Natale is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cultures and Civilizations at the University of Verona, specializing in Italian Literature (academic sector ITAL-01/A) with research focus on Theory and history of literature, comparative literature (ERC SH5_2).

Dr. Natale's research centers on Giacomo Leopardi's work and legacy, 20th century poetry (particularly Andrea Zanzotto), 16th century literature, tragic theater tradition from Tasso to Manzoni, and reception of classical works in modern Italian literature. He leads the research group on Andrea Zanzotto utilizing the poet's personal archive from Pieve di Soligo.

As Director of the 'Centro di Ricerca L'eredità di Leopardi' and member of the National Center for Leopardi Studies scientific committee, he significantly contributes to Leopardi scholarship. He coordinates the Faculty Board of PhD in Philology, Literature, and Performance Studies and serves on the PhD School Board.

His teaching portfolio includes 'Genres and Forms of Italian Literature,' 'Italian Literature and Philosophy,' and specialized courses across multiple degree programs including the Master's in Tradition and Interpretation of Literary Texts and Bachelor's in Philosophy. He's actively involved in bibliotherapy programs and literary interpretation initiatives through various research centers.
