About
Masoud Karimi is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU), affiliated with the Bagley College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Energy Systems) from the University of Toronto, Canada (2004), along with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. As an IEEE Fellow, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Sustainable Energy, and Power Engineering Letters.
His research focuses on advanced control systems for power electronics and distributed energy systems, including microgrid stability, nonlinear control, and phase-locked loop (PLL) technologies. Key areas include renewable energy integration, grid resilience against climate impacts, and high-performance motor drives. Recent work emphasizes grid-supportive inverters, fault ride-through capabilities, and adaptive control architectures for inverter-based resources.
Professor Karimi’s contributions span over 70 peer-reviewed articles and multiple patents. His projects include collaborative NSF-funded research on grid resilience and smart inverter controls. He has advised numerous graduate students in power systems and energy engineering.
He is a recipient of the IEEE Fellow distinction (2020) and has delivered keynote talks at international conferences on power electronics and control systems.
