María Candelaria Romeu Peyró

María Candelaria Romeu Peyró is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at CEU Cardenal Herrera University, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences. She has been a faculty member since the 2004-05 academic year and currently teaches in the degrees of Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as in the Master's programs in Secondary Teacher Training and Bilingual Education. She also holds a Certificate of Competence for Teaching in English.

Her educational background includes a Licentiate in Anglo-Germanic Philology from the University of Valencia (1995) and a PhD from CEU Cardenal Herrera University, with a dissertation titled Development of Thinking Skills in the CLIL Methodology in Primary Education. An Analysis of Materials for Natural Sciences.

Her research focuses on critical thinking development in primary education, particularly through CLIL methodology. She is actively involved in a Banco de Santander-FSP CEU funded research project titled Critical Thinking in Schools: Analysis and Adaptation to the Spanish School Environment of a Critical Thinking Development Program in Primary Education. Her expertise also extends to English for Specific Purposes, with a focus on scientific and professional communication in pharmacy, biomedicine, and chemistry.

She holds multiple academic and administrative roles: Coordinator of the Postgraduate DUE in Professional Tools for Teachers, Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Degree (Valencia), Secretary of the Department of Humanities, and Practicum Tutor for both the Master in Secondary Teacher Training and the Master in Bilingual Education. She also serves as an interviewer and evaluation tribunal member for final degree and master's projects.
