María A. Castrillo Romón

María A. Castrillo Romón is a Professor of Urban Planning and Territorial Planning at the University of Valladolid's Department of Urban Planning and Representation of Architecture. She holds a PhD in Urban Planning (1997) and has been a researcher and lecturer since 1991. As former Director of the University Institute of Urban Planning (IUU) (2016–2020), she currently leads the European UrbanHist PhD program, focusing on 20th-century urban planning history across multiple European institutions.

Her research centers on historical analysis of social housing policies, urban rehabilitation practices, and the intersection of urban planning with socio-political dynamics. Key focuses include:
