About
Maryam Badv is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, and a Full Member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute. Her research focuses on designing biomaterials and functional interfaces to address challenges in biointerface interactions, aiming to develop multifunctional biomaterials that mimic biological environments and prevent post-surgical complications.
- PhD and MASc in Biomedical Engineering from McMaster University
- BSc in Chemical Engineering from University of Tehran
- NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
Her work spans tissue engineering, thrombosis prevention, and antimicrobial surface development, supported by interdisciplinary collaborations. Awards include the IAAM Young Scientist Medal (2024) and multiple teaching/supervision excellence awards (2023). The Badv Lab (Translational Biomedical Engineering Laboratory) fosters a diverse, multidisciplinary environment for training next-generation researchers.
