MaryAnn Romski is a Regents Professor in the Department of Communication at Georgia State University, with joint appointments in the Departments of Psychology and Communication Sciences and Disorders. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas (1981) and is an ASHA-certified, Georgia-licensed speech-language pathologist.
Her research focuses on developmental disabilities, augmentative communication, and early language intervention. She investigates how children with severe communication disorders develop language skills, particularly through interventions using augmented means like technology and sign language.
