Mary Lui is Professor of American Studies and History at Yale University. Her research focuses on Asian American history, urban studies, gender, and public history. She authored the award-winning book The Chinatown Trunk Mystery examining race relations in early 20th century New York, and is currently researching Cold War-era Asian American cultural diplomacy.
Her research interests include transnational cultural exchange, racial formation in urban spaces, and the intersection of STEM fields with Asian American studies. She co-leads Yale's Asian Americans and STEM initiative.
