Dr. Mary Hermann is a Professor in the Counseling program at the University of the Cumberlands. She holds multiple professional credentials, including licensed attorney, licensed professional counselor, and Gallup strengths-based coach. Prior to her current role, she taught at Loyola University New Orleans, Virginia Commonwealth University, Mississippi State University, and the University of New Orleans, while also contributing to women's studies programs and serving as affiliate faculty at VCU Institute for Women’s Health.
Her research focuses on women's lifespan development, legal/ethical issues in counseling, and well-being promotion. As founding director of the Women’s Lifespan Development Research Lab, she has produced over 75 publications and 200 presentations. She has held leadership roles in the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) and American Counseling Association (ACA), including co-chairing ACA's Gender Equity Task Force.
Dr. Hermann has received numerous accolades, including ACA Fellowship, for her scholarship and leadership. She also maintains an active professional presence as a jazz vocalist with a debut CD 'Joy Spring' (www.maryhermanngarcia.com).
