Mary Funk

Dr. Mary Funk is an Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, holding a formal appointment in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Professional Development. She serves as program coordinator for the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies on the USM Gulf Park campus. With a career spanning 25 years as a military air traffic controller and extensive experience in education, she focuses on student success and workforce development.

Dr. Funk earned a PhD in Human Capital Development (2015) from the University of Southern Mississippi, an MBA from William Carey University (2002), and a BS in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (2001). Her expertise includes military student support, project management, and interdisciplinary education.
