Mary Elizabeth Bridges

Mary Elizabeth Bridges is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology at East Carolina University (ECU). Her work focuses on psychological resilience, coping mechanisms, positive psychological resources, and well-being, with a strong emphasis on enhancing academic success through innovative educational technologies. She holds a PhD in Educational Psychology and Research from the University of South Carolina (2023), an MEd in Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (2003), and a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences (2001).

Her research explores resilience in diverse educational settings, the imposter phenomenon, and strategies to integrate technology into teaching for improved student engagement. She is particularly invested in understanding how hope, optimism, and self-efficacy influence academic outcomes.
