Mary Braid

Mary Braid is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at Kingston University's School of Creative and Cultural Industries, Department of Journalism, Publishing and Media. She leads the BA Journalism and BA Journalism and Media courses, teaches on MA Magazine and MA Journalism programs, and serves as module leader for Journalism Research Paper (JO5004), Journalism in History and Literature (JO5007), MA Feature Writing (JO7006), and MA Dissertation (JO7010). She also instructs ethics on both MA and BA courses.

Her research focuses on the interplay between media and government, analyzing how journalists interact with policy networks and how media influences politics beyond agenda-setting. She previously worked for two decades as a journalist, including ten years at The Independent, covering roles as a general news reporter, education reporter, feature writer, and Africa correspondent.
