Marvin Berkowitz

Dr. Marvin Berkowitz is the Sanford N. McDonnell Endowed Professor of Character Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, with joint appointments in Education and Psychology. He co-directs the Center for Character and Citizenship and is recognized globally for research on moral development in educational settings.

His transformative work includes:

• Developing the PRIMED framework for institutional character education
• Pioneering research on school climate and ethical development
• Creating assessment tools for moral education programs
• International collaborations on virtue-based leadership

Honored with lifetime achievement awards in character education, Berkowitz has authored over 150 publications including books like 'You Can’t Teach Through a Rat' and 'Parenting for Good'.
