Martyn Jones

Martyn Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Wrexham Glyndŵr University. He bridges industry and academia through degree apprenticeship programs in Production, Mechanical, Electrical, and Low Carbon Energy Engineering.

Education:

• MEng in Aeronautical Engineering, University of Liverpool (2008)
• PhD in Lightweight Optical Surfaces

Research Interests focus on composite structural design, sustainable manufacturing technologies, and optomechanical systems for telescopes. His work with the ASTUTE Wales project and Glyndŵr Innovations Limited highlights his commitment to applied engineering solutions.

Industry Engagement includes roles at Airbus UK, Assystem UK (A350 structural components), and leading funded projects on lightweight optical surfaces. He also collaborates with SMEs in Wales through advanced manufacturing initiatives.

Labs & Teams: Martyn works with Glyndŵr Innovations Limited, the university's commercial arm, developing design components for optomechanical telescope systems.
