Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martina Zimmermann is a leading academic in materials science and engineering, currently holding the Chair of Mechanics of Materials and Failure Analysis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology Dresden since 2012. She also serves as Head of the Materials Characterization competence field and acts as a liaison lecturer for the German Academic Scholarship Foundation since 2013.

Her research focuses on understanding the relationships between material structures, properties, and operational stresses, with applications in aerospace, power plant structures, and biomedical materials.
