Martina Summer Meranius

Martina Summer Meranius is an Associate Professor and Doctor of Philosophy in Caring Science at Mälardalen University (MDU), affiliated with the School of Health, Care and Social Welfare and the Division of Caring Sciences and Health Care Pedagogics. Her research focuses on older adults with multimorbidity, person-centered care, dementia care, and communication within healthcare systems.

• Co-leader of the research group Person-Centered Care and Communication at MDU
• Supervisor for two doctoral projects: (1) Spousal caregiving in dementia and (2) Fundamental care needs of critically ill patients
• Current roles: Chairman of the Recruitment Committee and member of the Committee on Health at MDU, as well as the Older Commission in Västerås
• Teaching areas include caring science, older people nursing, research methods, and supervision of candidate and master’s theses

Her work emphasizes improving healthcare for vulnerable populations through empirical research and interventions in emergency care and dementia support systems.
