Seamus Martin is the Smurfit Professor of Genetics at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, leading the Smurfit Institute of Genetics. His research focuses on programmed cell death, inflammation, and cancer links. He holds a PhD from the National University of Ireland and completed postdoctoral training at University College London and the La Jolla Institute for Immunology. He has been recognized with prestigious awards including the ERC Advanced Grant (2021), Boyle Medal (2014), and election to EMBO (2009) and the Royal Irish Academy (2006). He co-authored 'Essential Immunology' textbooks and serves as Editor-in-Chief of The FEBS Journal. His lab has produced >40,000 citations (Clarivate) and graduated over 20 PhD students.
