Martin Schmidt

Martin Schmidt is an Associate Professor and Dean at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Matej Bel University. He specializes in Metaphysics, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, and Critical Thinking.

His research includes Argumentation Theory, History of Analytical Philosophy, and Identity over Time. He has authored works such as the Online Textbook on Argumentation and Critical Thinking and a book on Identity and Persistence Over Time. A 2019 publication (Identity and Persistence in Time) and a 2024/25 course Introduction to the Philosophy of Language highlight his focus on metaphysical and linguistic frameworks.

Projects led include the University Textbook on Critical Thinking (2016-2018) and contributions to analyzing the societal role of social sciences and humanities (APVV-18-0122, 2019-2023).
